English Language Learners with Disabilities: Promising Practices - Saturday, May 23, 2009

 

The Spring 2009 quarterly newsletter of the National Clearinghouse of Language Acquisition, AccELLerate, takes as its theme the topic of English language learners with disabilities. This newsletter includes a number of articles highlighting promising practices from around the nation for this group of students. Although the authors of these articles are able to shine a light on successful strategies for ELLs with disabilities, as always, they caution readers to remember that strategies which work with one group of students may not work with all groups. English language learners are a diverse group of students, and all educators should attend to the complexities of difference in the cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds of their students.

Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education - Monday, February 18, 2008

 

The second edition of the Guiding Principles for Dual language Education has been published by the Center for Applied Linguistics. This edition is an update of the 2005 publication and includes a literature review by Kathryn J. Lindholm-Leary with edited and clarified principles. The document can be downloaded from the CAL website or purchased as a paper bound doucment.
